This 16-mile route takes you through the scenic hills overlooking Hunstanton, Holme-next-the-Sea, and Heacham, using quiet green lanes and farm tracks. The route is challenging, especially due to the rough off-road sections, making it perfect for those looking for an adventurous ride. Approximately 35% of the route is off-road, winding through byways and unclassified roads with soft surfaces. During the dry summer months, these tracks are easier to navigate but can become more challenging after rain. A mountain or hybrid bike is recommended, but with the Engwe E26 and Engwe L20 e-bikes, you'll find it much easier to tackle the rougher terrain.

Route Highlights

  • Green Bank: As you cycle along this east-to-west aligned track, located along the Ringstead and Holme parish boundary, you'll enjoy fine views of the rolling, open farmland that slopes down to the coastal plain in the north and up to higher land in the south. Green Bank is thought to be a prehistoric Ridgeway.
  • Hunstanton Park: Skirting the edge of this former medieval deer park, you'll witness the landscape enhanced during the 17th and 19th centuries. A short diversion near the end of the ride leads to St. Mary’s Church, one of the largest churches in this part of Norfolk, located within the grounds of Hunstanton Park.
  • Ringstead Downs Nature Reserve: As Norfolk’s largest remaining area of unimproved chalk grassland, this nature reserve offers fantastic views and a peaceful atmosphere. It's a wonderful place for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike.

Nearby Attractions

  • Holme-next-the-Sea: Just off the route, this charming village is home to Holme Dunes Nature Reserve, a must-visit for birdwatchers with its mix of dunes, salt marshes, and freshwater pools.
  • Heacham: Famous for its beautiful lavender fields at Norfolk Lavender, and offering easy access to the scenic coastal path.
  • Snettisham: A short distance away, visit the RSPB Snettisham Nature Reserve, where you can witness incredible flocks of migratory birds.

With the power and assistance of the Engwe E26 and Engwe L20 e-bikes, this route becomes more accessible, especially for those looking to explore the rugged beauty of Norfolk’s countryside without the fatigue of traditional cycling. These e-bikes make the ride smoother, even in more challenging conditions.
